Erin Plant

National Mall and Memorial Parks

Erin grew up in Staunton, Virginia and attended college at the University of Virginia. Erin dedicated her college experience to service, working as a volunteer for children’s programs in the college’s art museum, the public library, and local elementary schools. Living in Charlottesville, Erin was passionate about serving a socially and economically disparate community, working to bridge gaps and encourage community engagement on all fronts. She even led her peers on service trips to Hilton Head, South Carolina to explore similar issues along the East Coast. After graduating with degrees in Classics and Archaeology, she pursued a career in the museum field through an internship with the U.S. Department of the Interior Museum. Working in the Interior headquarters exposed her to the many ways that the agency works to preserve the nation’s natural and cultural resources; she was particularly inspired by the National Park Service’s ability to connect people to the physical spaces that house such amazing histories and natural beauties. Erin is thrilled to be a part of this mission while serving in the nation’s capital. Serving as a Community Volunteer Ambassador is the perfect way to combine her loves for history and community engagement, and she can’t wait to make an impact on the Washington D.C. community through the volunteer programs at the National Mall and Memorial Parks.
