Kathryn Maupin

Fire Island National Seashore

Kathryn is from Long Island, NY. She spent many summers swimming in the beaches of Fire Island and
fishing off the piers in Captree State Park. If she wasn't at the beach she was in the woods hiking with
her Dad. She has always had a love for history and science. Her passion for Anthropology started her
second year at Stony Brook University which ultimately led her to switch majors from Astrophysics to
Anthropology. After a gap year of doing fieldwork in New Hampshire she decided to get her Masters
degree in Archaeology at Binghamton University. After graduating Binghamton she worked for New
York State as an Education Specialist, gaining a lot of hands on experience in the field. Now that she is
back home and working as the CVA for the Fire Island National Seashore she hopes to use her Public
Archaeology background to develop new educational programs.
