Nathan Varnold

Fort Monroe National Monument

Nathan is a Colorado native who grew up in the Denver Metro area. He received his BA (history) from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2012 before trekking to Fort Collins, CO in pursuit of his MA. Having earned his MA (19th century United States history) from Colorado State University in 2016, Nathan worked for the National Park Service as a seasonal Park Guide at Petersburg National Battlefield (2017) and Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park (2018 and 2019). The COVID-19 Pandemic put pause on his career in 2020, but he is extremely excited to be part of the CVA corps serving at Fort Monroe National Monument near Hampton, Virginia. Here, Nathan will develop and promote the NPS initiative “Keep Fort Monroe Beautiful.”
