Shannon Rowe

Stones River National Battlefield

Shannon Rowe is from Nashville, TN where she grew up surrounded by Civil War history and participated in living history demonstrations.
Desiring to be a history teacher, she attended Lee University to receive a BS in History Education. During
her time there, she was introduced to the National Park Service through a volunteer internship opportunity at Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro, TN. This experience nurtured her passion for interpretation and volunteerism. Determined to pursue a career in the NPS, Shannon attended West Virginia University and received an MA in Public History, while working summers as a seasonal park guide at Manassas National Battlefield Park. She has since been a seasonal park ranger at Abraham Lincoln Birthplace NHP and Vicksburg National Military Park. Through these experiences, she realized the importance of historic preservation, community outreach, and volunteer programs. Shannon looks forward to further exploring these aspects of stewardship in her return to Stones River NBP as a CVA intern. She is most excited about helping communities and volunteers forge emotional and intellectual connections to the battlefield she loves so much.
