Shelby McAllister

Shiloh National MilitaryPark

Shelby McAllister was born and raised within the never-ending cornfields of small-town Iowa. She graduated from a small Liberal Arts school in her hometown called Simpson College. She attended Simpson for a few years, earning her degree in Elementary Education, and History.
During her college career, she worked at an outdoor living history museum in Iowa for five years. At the museum, she learned a variety of different things, like how to make brooms by hand, Victorian etiquette, and the best ways to corral sheep. During her last of college, Shelby was selected to serve as a Living History Intern in Harper Ferry, West Virginia. She fell in love with working for the National Park Service and wanted to continue to work with them after the internship was over. One day, she hopes to have a full-time job creating education and outreach programs to help foster children’s interest in history and National Parks.
