Sierra Stukenholtz

St. Croix National Scenic Riverway

February 2023

Sierra is serving at St. Croix National Scenic Riverway in St. Croix Falls, WI. She recently moved to eastern Minnesota and has been able to enjoy the riverway through several local parks. She was delighted to learn about the Community Volunteer Ambassador program and is very excited to serve her new community in this role. She looks forward to making meaningful connections and gaining new skills in leadership and development. She is excited to learn new things, take on new challenges, and grow both personally and professionally.
Sierra is originally from Des Moines, Iowa. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University with majors in Animal Ecology (Wildlife Care option) and Biology. She then spent the next several years working in the animal care field as a zoo keeper, with a focus on avian species. She loved getting to know all of the individuals she cared for, and discovered a passion for animal welfare. Sierra enjoyed her time as a zoo keeper, and now looks forward to a conservation focused role that supports her local community and natural resources.

While Sierra does have a special spot in her heart for birds, she greatly appreciates all kinds of creatures. In her free time she enjoys spending time with animals, being in nature, and playing board games.
