Niobrara National Scenic River
September 2023
Kate grew up in a family that loved the National Parks. The road trips her family would take from their home in Georgia, out west to parks like Yellowstone and Death Valley, remain some of her fondest memories.
While in college at the University of Georgia, Kate’s love for the outdoors was coupled with a passion for history. This emerging interest deepened her appreciation for the National Parks, particularly their role in preserving the stories of the land they protect.
After graduating with her Bachelors in History, Kate sought a way to combine her skills in the humanities with her love of nature. This led her to the Community Volunteer Ambassador program.
She is currently working at Niobrara National Scenic River, where she is recruiting volunteers for a number of historical and environmental programs. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, puzzles, and playing in the Niobrara River with her dog, George.
