Caroline Ver Mulm

Missouri National Recreational River

Winter 2024

Caroline Ver Mulm is from Tennessee where she earned her bachelor's degree in Earth Science from the University of Memphis. She is currently serving as the first Community Volunteer Ambassador at the Missouri National Recreational River in Yankton, South Dakota. As the first in this role in the park, she is excited to gain experience in a lot of behind the scenes work as the she works with the current VIP Manager to build their volunteer program from the ground up. Moreover, she’s looking forward to working with and strengthening relationships with the park’s partners along the nearly 100 miles of the Missouri River that the National Park Service protects as well as the surrounding communities. One fun fact about Caroline is that she just recently traveled back to the US after spending just over a year in Southeast Asia, experiencing the culture and teaching English. When traveling back, she brought back the cat she adopted in Laos. His name is Gilbert, and he has adjusted wonderfully to living in South Dakota! In the future, Caroline would love to pursue a career in Interpretation or Volunteer Management in the NPS, upholding the mission to preserve these valuable lands and waters for future generations.
