Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park
Winter 2024
Jhulian Gutierrez, originally from the sunny city of Miami, Florida, has always been drawn to the beauty of nature. His academic journey led him to pursue a degree in Leadership and Learning Innovation with a minor in environmental science at the University of Arizona.
With a passion for environmental conservation and leadership, Jhulian has embarked on various career ventures. Prior to his current role as a Climate CVA (Community Volunteer Ambassador), he gained valuable experience through other internships within the National Park Service (NPS) and nonprofit conservation work in Hawaii over the past 5 years. Now stationed at Biscayne National Park and Everglades National Park, Jhulian aims to hone his management skills and learn what it takes to run volunteer programs within the NPS. Additionally, he hopes to forge strong connections within his community to promote environmental stewardship.
Outside of work, Jhulian finds joy in exploring the outdoors through activities such as scuba diving, kayaking, and swimming. His ultimate goal is to utilize his term of service to be able to give back to his community/home state national parks, and to develop the necessary skills that will help him be successful with his career within the NPS. His commitment to conservation and community engagement reflects his core values and aspirations in environmental stewardship.
