Mel Vigil

San Francisco Maritime National Historical Museum

Winter 2024

Mel is a Salvadoran American from Los Angeles, CA. They recently completed their History M.A. specializing in public history at CSU-Fullerton. Their academic journey took them to write a master's thesis combining medieval and public history that investigates how do American museums interpret the European Middle Ages. Before moving to San Francisco, they worked and interned in different museums. They enjoy watching sci-fi fantasy, animated, and superhero media during their free time. They attend nerd conventions such as San Diego Comic-Con, Star Wars Celebration, and Los Angeles Comic-Con a few times a year too. Mel is excited about this new journey as a Community Volunteer Ambassador and looks forward to learning more about the San Francisco Maritime community.
